How to Make Your Own Wrought Iron AccentsThis is how to do it. Making simple accents is a fun project for those with a torch and a welder. First, you'll get the bar stock in the size that you want the filaments. Then cut to length, about 3 inches. Wrap with baling wire to secure. Weld the filaments together. Place in a vise, or grip with vise-grips. Then heat with your torch until glowing evenly. You must be very even, or the result will be off. Now put the other end in the vise, and twist 1.5 turns in one direction, and then twist .5 a turn back. This back turn will open the basket design. Option: While it's still hot, you can pound the top with a hammer to squash the basket and make a wider shape. Photos coming. Questions? Email us. ---
